Death Notes:	The following obit appeared in the Grayson Co News Gazette on July 5, 2005. Mildred L. (Kebbell) Bratcher Mildred L. (Kebbell) Bratcher, age 86, of Louisville, Ky., died Monday, June 27, 2005 at Britthaven of South Louisville. She was born on January 28, 1919, the daughter of Thomas and Nola Shain Kebbell. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the Caneyville Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bratcher. She is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Joseph C. (Vickie) Bratcher of Shepherdsville, Ky., Thomas M. (Mary Lee) Bratcher of Richmond, Ky., and Robert F. (Kay) Bratcher of Louisville; and two sisters, Enola Grace Bratcher and Mary Jane Kebbell, both of Louisville; Also surviving are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 30, 2005 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville, Ky., with Rev. Donald Davis officiating. Burial was in the Deweese Cemetery.

Robert Bratcher moved his family to Louisville in 1943, after Cora Ellen Dennison passed away. Both he and Charles Buford Bratcher were guards at a Reynolds Metals plant. While they were in Louisville, Robert's family lived at 2732 Hale Street in Parkland. 28th was the cross-street. Robert's family lived on the second floor, and Charles Buford's family lived on the first floor.

Delores and George Patton, both caught polio while they were in Louisville.

When WWII was over, Robert wanted to move back to Caneyville, but Mildred wanted to stay in Louisville. Robert won out, and the family moved back to Caneyville in November. Joe Bratcher remembers the day. He said it had been snowing and the roads were muddy.

Alley behind 2732 Hale Street

This is the alley that ran behind 2732 Hale Street. Tommy Bratcher, my uncle, slipped out of the house during 1943-44, when the Bratchers were living in Louisville. Firemen from a local fire station saw him and held him until his father, Robert Bratcher, came looking for him.
